Publications

The new series Archäologie in China (Archaeology in China) is devoted to the promulgation of knowledge about Chinese archaeology and written in both the German and English languages. It presents the current and new results in research, including recent archaeological discoveries together with supra-regional comparisons of individual finds and cultures as well as scientific analyses and reconstructions of landscapes and climate. 

Further Activities and Projects

Several programs should promote the education of young Chinese archaeologists in the field of geodetical techniques, documentation and conservation of finds.

Research projects are conducted together with Chinese partner institutions. They involve various topics concerning the settlement history of northern China from Palaeolithic to Medieval times, with special reference to change in landscapes and climate. These research projects should support scientific analyses of archaeological finds and the preservation of cultural monuments in China. 

Calendar of Events

The Branch office hosts a series of bilingual lectures entitled "Bridging Eurasia” in the Chinese and German or English languages, which are meant to introduce and explore various aspects of European archaeology.
