At present, the central office publishes two journals and more than 30 series as well as a smaller number of monographs appearing in loose intervals. The publications focus mainly on the cultures of the Mediterranean countries in the Greek and Roman periods but include also the peripheries of the ancient world. The range of publications covers all periods from prehistoric times to late antiquity. A team of researchers and professionals in the editing department plans and monitors each step of the publication from the preparation of the manuscript to the finished book. It is a special concern to maintain the high quality standard of the publications while attaching great importance to the quick and wide dissemination of research results on favourable terms. Besides their work in the editing department, the researchers carry out their own research projects.

Publication of Journal Articles

Contributions to the Jahrbuch des Deutschen Archäologischen Instituts (JdI) and to the Archäologischen Anzeiger (AA) may be submitted in German, English, French, Italian or Spanish. The manuscripts must be finished, complete and ready for setting according to the Guidelines for Contributors to Publications of the German Archaeological Institute. The manuscripts will be reviewed by the editors and an advisory committee, the members of which will return expert evaluations on the anonymous manuscripts. Further information on the profile of the journals, submission deadlines and the advisory board is available on the websites of the JdI and the AA.
